A lighthearted comedy about a suicide cult.

AUSTIN, Texas – June 22, 2015 – Writer/director David Jones graduated from the International Academy of Film and Television in 2012. Shortly after meeting local stand-up funnyman Paul Theron he began developing “The Away Team.” The narrative is loosely based on the Heaven’s Gate, a millenarian cult. The group splashed onto headlines in 1997 when it’s members took their own lives in an effort to board an alien spacecraft they believed was trailing the Hale-Bopp Comet.

Jones draws much of his inspiration from the likes of Ricky Gervais and Larry David. The Away Team will no doubt offer a similar brand of humor. Paul Theron is at the helm playing the role of the cult leader. Mike Dunne, who Jones regards as “one of the funniest people to roam the earth” is a talented new face slated to play a supporting role. The lead role however has not yet been selected yet. Jones and his fellow filmmakers are very enthusiastic about bringing their picture to life but they need help. That’s why they launched a Kickstarter campaign.

The goal of this project is $96,000 by August 2, 2015 and the funds will go toward production expenses such as equipment, cast, crew, permits and other essentials.

Stanbury elaborates that moving into this new phase of growth will not be an easy transition, nor will it guarantee success. However, the opportunity for ongoing education and adaptability are the best chances anyone in the freight industry has for success. After extensive testing, Brogden found that less than 10% of prospects read marketing materials all the way through, but 85% of those same prospects would watch a video that contained the same information.  “All of us have learned to tune out typical advertising messages and commercials,” he says. “Even Google calculates your Adwords projections on a 1% response, which means they know that, on average, 99% of your audience is ignoring you.”

Brogden’s solution is to make your video look like something other than a commercial or a sales pitch – something fun, educational, entertaining, dramatic, or helpful. And hopefully, viral. “Tell a story, make ’em laugh, make ’em cry, make ’em nod their head, make ’em want to share it with all their friends on Facebook. But if it looks like the typical commercial, it’s going to be ignored,” he says.

Drawing upon his years of advertising experience and a double major in marketing and psychology, Brogden perfected a unique process for interviewing customers, clients and patients to get testimonials. In the process he quickly developed a reputation for his skill at documenting more elaborate success stories on video. “People started calling me the Larry King of testimonial videos, even though I’m always off-camera,” he says. “When I’m interviewing someone, I’m a marketing journalist. It’s not about me, it’s about the people I’m interviewing, letting them tell their story in their own words, and letting the world see how good my clients really are.”

Some experts caution that while video can be powerful and effective, it takes an objective third-party to produce a video that is authentically customer-focused and not self-centered or full of hype. Brogden agrees. “That’s the whole point. You have to get out of the mindset of talking about yourself. People don’t believe what you say about yourself. They are checking you out on Google, they are looking for ratings and reviews, and they want to know what other people think about you. So if you have a great product or service that makes people happy, we want to make it easy for them to tell their story to the world, because their story is really your story.”

And if a company has a lot of negative reviews and poor ratings, “It’s even more critical to find your happy customers and get them talking about you on camera,” Brogden explains. “We can’t erase negative reviews, but we can mitigate the damage by filming people who had positive, happy experiences. Reputation management must be proactive, not reactive.”

To make his style of video more accessible to small businesses and non-profits, Brogden figured out a way to make the studio portable and deliver a film crew on-site, anywhere in the world. “We bring the studio to you, we film on location, and a few weeks later you get a professionally-produced video for your website that’s going to tell your story from the perspective of your best customers.”

But what sets Vizabol Media apart is what happens after the video is produced. Back in the production studio, Brogden takes off his marketing journalist hat and puts on his marketing strategist hat. They include people who were caught in the Great Recession, people squeezed between inflation and wage stagnation, people working in low-wage jobs and trapped in the poverty cycle, and retired people who can’t stretch their limited funds far enough. The majority of the 137,480 people are either children or seniors, and the majority of the rest are working full time jobs (or two).”

“I was moved to do something to not just raise money but increase awareness of this issue,” Comstock said. “That so many are in so much need should shock the sensibilities of every person who reads this and motivate them to make a contribution.”

Swimming The English Channel

More people have successfully scaled Everest than have swum across the English Channel and for good reasons. Like Everest, it is cold with high winds. Like Everest, breathing is challenge. For mountain climbers at high altitudes extra oxygen is available from tanks they carry with them.   Not so while swimming as Mr. Comstock will get his air one breath at time from just above the surface of the cold, choppy waters between the U.K. and France. Waves, current, 57F degree water temp and fatigue will be in the mix as well as the danger of hypothermia.

Endurance Swimming

The distance to swim is just over 21 miles. The time needed to make the crossing varies from as few as 7 hours to as many as 27 hours. The water conditions and the condition of the swimmer determine the time needed.

For such a long time in the water, swimmers have to figure out how and what to eat and drink during the swim. All this while greased from head to toe. Grease is the preferred (and only allowed) insulator for swimmers. Swimmers are not permitted to use any kind of material that offers buoyancy or thermal insulation. It is a brutal test of endurance. But Comstock is no stranger to those types of tests.

Average Athlete

Comstock is a former Alaska “Deadliest Catch” Commercial Fisherman, two-time finisher of the Hawaii Ironman Triathlon and black belt team member on the U.S. Intersport Karate team to Russia and Poland. Mr. Comstock has directed his own training company since 1981. He believes that he is more than up to the challenge as he is also regarded as a pre-eminent authority and corporate speaker on mental toughness. “As much of this and other challenges are about fitness, they are more about the state of mind of the person who undertakes them,” he said. “It’s easy to set a tough goal, achieving it is another story.”
