Pnacek was selected because of his track record of helping hundreds of people struggling with drug and/or alcohol addiction break through their biggest obstacles when getting and staying on the path to true living and because of his good standing in his local community.

During the interview, Pnacek explained the biggest obstacles people in recovery face are not being sure they want to go to treatment, being afraid, being in denial, and being unsure they have a problem.

“When people in addiction get to a place of willingness sometimes they don’t know how to take that first step,”  Pnacek says.  “We are the hands and feet that they don’t have yet and we are the people that build the bridge to the treatment centers. Once they are through the treatment, say through a sober living facility, we also bridge the gap so that they are able to plug back into the community because all of the socialized living skills have deteriorated.”

When asked about how a recoveree can deal with stress Pnacek says a recoveree must stay in today, do the next right thing, and have faith in the fact that the goals that have been set out in front of them are the right recipe to get them to the end result of staying in their continuous process of being successful in true living. He says they must live in the moment of who they are as human beings in total self acceptance of what the process is within themselves.

After ten years of being in recovery and staying on the path of positivity and enlightenment for himself, Mark found a passion for giving back what was so freely given to him by being the one friend in a person’s life who can say he has felt their pain and can guide them to living true to themselves and everyone else even when nobody else will talk to them or is simply done in their life.

Two young entrepreneurs from Chicago take their project to Kickstarter

Trying to start a new business on the side of your day job is far from an easy task, but developing a Kickstarter campaign around your dreams for the world to see while attempting to raise $10,000 in 40 days, certainly adds some pressure to it.  Two young screen printers from Chicago felt it was worth the risk, and a perfect medium for their plans to redefine what people consider being the standard product in custom screen printing.

With more than 15 combined years of screen printing experience, Bryan Neubauer (25) and Nick Rizza (24) are saying that this is screen-printing the way it is supposed to be done.  In an industry where the lowest price tends to be the determining factor, in a city flooded with advertisements for shirts printed within an hour, Pressd Apparel plans to shake things up a little bit.  As the standard product they plan to offer apparel that is made in America and screen-printed using water based inks instead of plastisol based inks or direct to garment printed. Best of all, they will follow a one-for-one model and will still be priced competitively. 

“We aren’t going to be the cheapest or quickest print shop that ever existed, but we will provide the best value in the industry,” says Neubauer. “Apparel is just another advertising medium; people notice what others are wearing and impressions multiply with each wear. Investing in custom printed apparel that isn’t worth a second look versus apparel people enjoy wearing makes sense, when it’s priced competitively it’s a clear decision.

Determined to push their concept forward, Nick and Bryan decided to run a Kickstarter campaign to try and crowd source the additional $10,000 necessary to continue development of their website, and to get a barebones operation up and running, the hope is that they exceed their goal and can source additional funds down the road.

The lack of a proper consumer market led them to work in conditions with insufficient electricity, lack of raw material, and insufficient basic necessities.

Portland, OR – On June 13th 2015, Leonel Ortega-Valdez had launched a new Kickstarter campaign for Call of Cthulhu: At Darkest Tides, a planned three hour long film ranging for teen and adult audiences inspired and based on the writings of H.P. Lovecraft.

Call of Cthulhu: At Darkest Tides is an adventure horror film taking place in the present, chronicling the events surrounding a missing, but legendary, FBI Agent and the aspiring Journalist who is sent to find him or his remains,” said Leonel. “While At Darkest Tides is its own original story, taking directly from the Cthulhu Mythos, we’ll find a few familiar faces and references that remain the pinnacle of Lovecraft’s universe. It has its own canon, despite being a form of sequel to H.P. Lovecraft’s written works.”

Call of Cthulhu: At Darkest Tides is to be a three hour long film in the adventure horror genre, while combining elements of science fiction, action, and dramatic intrigue while maintaining its story and content. Years previously, At Darkest Tides had two unsuccessful Kickstarter campaigns and one IndieGoGo campaign, which had also failed. Upon gaining an interested audience, Leonel was encouraged to rewrite the main storyline and finally start another campaign for this ambitious project and hope fans of Lovecraft could see the potential of the film. 

Casting for the film is already underway, with young actress Hannah Luyten portraying the film’s protagonist. At Darkest Tides is still casting committed actors as of now. So why would Leonel who had attended the Art Institute of Portland pick something as ambitious and possibly something as unfilmable as the Cthulhu Mythos? It was because Leonel had always loved a challenge and he has a great admiration in the Lovecraftian universe. Having already finished production with a Lovecraftian feature, NightScape, and beginning to film NightScape: Realm of Thorns soon, the young director felt the need to bring the Cthulhu Mythos to life in a motion picture, despite the numerous difficulties of Lovecraft’s near unifilmable stories and creatures.

“We are aiming for the minimum budget of the project. If we’re able to raise more than our projected budget, then we’ll be able to find more exclusive locations have a larger range of exclusive extras only available on the Blu-Ray’s collector’s edition,” the director explains. “Call of Cthulhu: At Darkest Tides will be able to be released on DVD and Blu-Ray, which will showcase the works of talented artists.” 

In exchange, those who pledge to the project will receive a number of rewards including a Digital Download of the film and sountrack, T-Shirts, Posters signed by the cast, or if backers are willing to pledge more, exclusive props from the film, sculptures, and/or make an appearance on set with the Cast & Crew.

Independent African Themed Movie Afua’s Diary on Indiegogo

London, UK – In June 2015, Bibi Shadbolt, a UK based fim maker launched an Indiegogo campaign for Afua’s Diary Movie, a romantic comedy drama based on the life of one woman. The film deals with love, destiny and the effects of immigration on diaspora communities.

“About 7 years ago, a friend told me about his roller coaster love life,” explains the creator, “It was such an interesting story I thought: ‘Why don’t I make a movie about this?’ So, with his permission, I decided to create a romantic comedy drama based on the life of one of the women and called it Afua’s Diary.”

Afua Forson Brown is a pretty African girl who goes through a series of challenges as her British student visa runs out. Her situation is made worse by constant nagging from her lazy and arrogant boyfriend and the persistent calls from her alcoholic father in Ghana who constantly demands money from her. Afua eventually finds love in Alan Freeman, a recently divorced businessman whose ex-wife, coincidentally, was an African woman who left him after she got the right to stay in the UK. With her escalating problems and knowing Alan’s past, Afua finds herself in an even more complicated situation.

“We finished production in 2014 and first screened the movie in December 2014. Afua’s Diary has since received three festival selections and won one award and we are now looking at releasing it in selected cinemas in the UK,” says Shadbolt, “This project was funded by myself and collaborators and with support from people like you, we believe we would reach even wider audiences. Thank you.”
